The Dania Beach fronton opened on Dec. 28, 1953 and earlier on Nov 2021, there was an announcement that the jai alai run in Dania Beach was over, but the demise of the sport proved to be premature. Today, there is a 500-seat grandstand along with standing areas. It was closed due to low attendance in November 2021 but has come back on a limited basis, The Dania casino fronton is located at 301 E Dania Beach Blvd,Dania Beach, The origins of jai alai can be traced back to the 1700s in Europe with the concentration of the sport taking place mainly in Spain and France. Jai alai was introduced to the United States in 1904. Iconic figures like Babe Ruth, Jackie Gleason, Ernest Hemingway, Hubert Humphrey, Rocky Marciano, Paul Newman, Sylvester Stallone and John Travolta cheered on the elite athletes who would fling the pelota at 160 mph and catch it with their handheld wicker cesta. The town of Dania Beach is located in Broward County, Florida. The town was founded in 1898 under the name Modello. Most of the 35 inhabitants at the time were from Denmark, they renamed the town Dania in November 1904, when it was incorporated. The current name dates from 1999, although the town continues to be called Dania. I was here !! and found me a picture in my vault of memories !!! At Miami-Opa Locka Executive Airport been there couple times for air shows and school related meetings, it is a wonderful little airport north of Miami and right next to the biggest flea market ther in Opa Locka in all of south Florida ! Aviation pioneer Glenn Curtis retired from aircraft development and manufacturing in the 1920s and became a real estate developer in Florida. In 1926, he founded the city of Opa-locka, It is historically related to aviation history of the USA, Official airport : https://www.miami-airport.com/opalocka.asp
The main NBC tv station for South Florida was near my old home and passed by it everyday on the I-75, Location : 15000 SW 27th St, Miramar WTVJ is an owned-and-operated television station of the NBC television network, located in Broward County. WTVJ shares its TV studio and office facility with co-owned Telemundo station WSCV channel 51 (Spanish) in Miramar, and its transmitter is located near Sun Life Stadium in north Miami-Dade County.
Even thus not played tennis had wonderful sports parks near my former home in Silver Lakes, Miramar Florida, One of these was the Silver Lakes Tennis complex at 3198 SW 176th Terrace What I did here was to take my little boys to practice baseball hitting and soccer/football in an adjacent open field walking distance from our house !! Memories forever !! Official City of Miramar on parks : https://www.miramarfl.gov/772/Parks-Facilities
North Miami, The city lies on Biscayne Bay. Originally the town of “Arch Creek”, the area was incorporated as the “Town of Miami Shores”, which was renamed the “Town of North Miami” in 1931. It was reincorporated as a city in 1953. The city is also home to the Oleta River State Park, which is the state’s largest urban park. The park contains one of the largest concentrations of Australian pine trees found in a Florida state park. The Arch Creek Park opened in 1982. Today, Arch Creek is an 8-acre (32,000 m2) site at the junction of N.E. 135th Street (right where our apt was!!!) and Biscayne Boulevard, and offers many opportunities for botanical, historical and archaeological study. It has a museum/nature center modeled after an early Florida pioneehome, displaying Indian artifacts dug from the grounds, and live animals from the nearby hammock. Remains of the original coontie mill are still visible across the creek, and the park exists as the only preserved archaeological site in the County. And why do I tell you again all the above well, upon my marriage with my dear late wife Martine in Daytona Beach Municipal courthouse and living in Ormond Beach we came south for better jobs for her and a transfer for me, Our first place was a rental apartment Chart House 2425 NE 135 St, a very nice place, And of course, found me a picture to include for the memories of always in my blog !!! I am a lover of travels to Europe , Americas , Africa and Asia as well ,who like to share my experiences of the last 53 years with the world, visiting so far 81 countries; living in 6, working in 5, and Citizen of 4, speaking fluently 4 languages. My background comes all the way from Candelaria and Pajara in Tenerife, Spain where my grandparents came from ;not knowing each other then, to Punta Brava, west of Havana, Cuba. There , my parents born in Cuba met and later on I was born there too. 100% guanche (annexed Tenerife to Spain on April 10 ,1496). I left Cuba as many have to Madrid, Spain where I lived for 4 years. Then, move to Perth Amboy ,New Jersey USA (living there 13 yrs) ; where I completed high school, became a US Citizen, learned to drive a car, and learned English. Afterward, went to the university in Florida, ERAU, and upon graduation decided to moved there to Ormond by the Sea, near Daytona Beach, finally moving North Miami, then Hialeah, then another moved to Silver Lakes division in Miramar, Broward county, Florida; in Florida I lived a total of 18 years. Finally , moved to France in 2003 ,Versailles call me for its royalty, and working in Paris was great. It was time to seek frontiers again and moved to Brech near Auray, Morbihan in Brittany , and later move to not too far Pluvigner. Total so far in France has been 20 years, and counting.
Moving average a home every 5.5 years hopefully this will be my last. Cheers
