The Jardin Isabel II of Aranjuez !!

I like to come back to the historic beautiful City of Aranjuez, in the Comunidad de Madrid region of my dear Spain, It is a walkable City with beautiful sights all around you. I found me an older picture lost in posts that needs to be showcase fully in a separate post, Therefore, let me tell you a bit on the Jardin Isabel II of Aranjuez !! Hope you enjoy it as I,

It was the first garden space for public use in Aranjuez and possibly one of the first in Spain of that type. Since 2001 it has been a World Heritage Site as part of the declaration Cultural Landscape of Aranjuez. The site was previously used for stable rest; however, at the beginning of the 19C, it was decided to beautify the space since the view was unseemly from the palace, and its completion took place between 1830 and 1834. During the First Republic Its name was changed to Jardín de Serrano and the sculpture of Isabel II was hidden until its replacement in 1875 under Alfonso XII. The layout was maintained, at least until 1929, and after the Spanish civil war it presented a simplified design. It was finally restored between 1999 and 2000.

The Jardin Isabel II presents a cross-shaped scheme, with two perpendicular streets united in a circular square. Each resulting square is in turn divided into four squares thanks to two streets parallel to the main side ,the Plaza de San Antonio, another parallel to Calle Real and another, not parallel, to Calle de las Infantas. In the center, after an iron fence, there is a bronze sculpture of Isabel II as a girl on a marble pedestal. In the corner of the Plaza de San Antonio, on a pedestal, there is a vase from the gate of the old Tagus bridge. For its part, on the Calle Gobernador side there are two gate pavilions. It has eight benches in stone and eight flower pots. It is very nice as a last stop before leaving the city.
