Fuentes or fountains of the Retiro Park of Madrid !!!

It was home away from home and just love it enormously, can’t visit Madrid without been at the Parque del Buen Retiro. I have become nostalgic again, and came back to it big time.  I have several posts in my blog because not only lived there in beautiful moments of my life; and the  Retiro park, my Retiro, my Madrid. I came cruising in and got me two new pictures , see my other posts for more. Hope you enjoy the post on the Fuentes or fountains of the Retiro Park of Madrid as I.

The Fuente de la Alcachofa, Plaza de la Republica de Honduras, This fountain was projected in 1776 and sculpted between 1781 and 1782, designed by Ventura Rodríguez, as part of the planning works for Paseo del Prado, a project promoted by King Carlos III. Despite the neoclassical training of Ventura Rodríguez, this fountain presents elements of clear Baroque influence. In the Plaza del Emperador Carlos V, popularly known as Glorieta de Atocha, the original place of the fountain, the current replica, made of bronze, was placed in 1987

The Fuente de los Galapagos was made of bronze and stone from Colmenar in 1831. It was originally located in the Red de San Luis, next to the Gran Vía. It was inaugurated in 1832 to commemorate the oath as Princess of Asturias, or according to other sources, the birth or first birthday of what would be Queen Isabel II. The fountain is made up of an upper spout in the shape of a shell located on a cup that rests on a column in the shape of a palm tree covered with leaves. At his feet are four children mounted on as many dolphins from whose mouths the water flows into the lower glass, after crossing two steps covered with vegetation. At the level of the second of these stands there are four other fountains that pour their waters first over some shells and later into the lower glass. These four fountains represent two frogs and two turtles, which have given it its popular name, and which have the particularity of having been the first two bronze pieces cast in Madrid.

The Fuentes de la Rosaleda are surrounded by roses and we can see two small fountains that refresh and brighten the place. They are made of granite and marble. On the south side we have the Fauno fountain. On his foot it has four marble dolphins, erect on the four fronts, from whose mouths the water flows. Among them we can see in the upper part shells and in the lower part lion heads from which water also gushes. The fountain is topped with a figure representing a small faun. On the opposite side of the garden, we have the Amorcillo fountain. Similar to the previous one, with masks on the central column from which fountains sprout. Sitting on a small hill of rocks we have a putti that looks at us serenely. Between both sources, on a small platform, there is a pond from which a fountain flows.
