My sentimental Miramar of Florida !!!

Ok this is not the best tourist spot in south Florida but a sentimental favorite as for a while we used to lived there, in fact, it was our last home in the USA ! And even if briefly mentioned in other posts, it really needs a post of its own, me think, Going down memory lane again with wonderful family experiences to remember forever, Therefore, here is my tribute to my sentimental Miramar of Florida for all times’s sake. Miramar is located in Broward county, State of Florida, USA.  My last town was Miramar, before leaping forward to France with after convincing her to live with me in Florida to raise our family and 3 wonderful young men , she convince me to come to France in 2003. As often the case pic below is from our visit in 2009 of our pool area in Sapphire Bay and my boys !!!

Miramar (English is seaview) was founded by A.L. Mailman to serve as a “bedroom community” for nearby Miami and Fort Lauderdale. He bought the original property he was to developed from H.D. Perry, Sr. in 1953.  The city was incorporated on May 26, 1955 bordered by the following cities, Pembroke Pines (lots of shopping did here) ,Hollywood (our closest beach about 31 km/ 18 miles),  West Park, and Hialeah, Hialeah Gardens, and a bit of Miami Lakes. My twins last school was Silver Lakes Elementary School, and my oldest was Silver Trail Middle School further north in Davie, memorable last schools in the USA and they fondly remember it as well as their teachers! We lived at Silver Lakes Division west of I-75 interstate road on Sapphire Bay sub division our last spot in the USA and very fondly remembered it. As of last look from 2000 while we were still there, Miramar had the 5th highest percentage of Jamaican residents in the United States, with 15.4% of the populace, the 58th highest percentage of Colombian residents in the US, at 2.51% and the 48th highest percentage of Cuban residents in the US, at 8.77% It also had the 78th most Dominicans in the US, at 1.98%,it had the 31st highest percentage of Haitians  at 6%, and the Trinidadian had the 12th highest percentage of residents, which was at 1.2%. Some things to see in Miramar are : Silver Lakes Sports Complex (where I played softball), Forzano Field (where I played beach volleyball), and SoccerZone Indoor (where I played indoor soccer). The city has over 40 parks, for the entire family.  The Miramar Cultural Center and ArtsPark was created to celebrate creativity and diversity within the city. situated adjacent to City Hall  The Miramar Branch Library Education Center’s collection consists of over 80,000 items in all media and genres.  The Miramar Regional Park Amphitheater provides an opportunity for live concert performances and outdoor entertainment to be housed and produced in a uniquely developed venue in South Florida. An open-air venue that will seat 5,000 people (3,000 covered canopy; 2,000 grass area).

A wonderful 18 years in the State of Florida living in several cities including Miramar. Memories that will not go away easy. The State was sunshine, friendly, and happy; so many things to do it will take an entire blog history to tell. From here went to my belle France in 2003, and came back with the family in 2009 and a couple days business conference in 2016. Life moves on, but the memories remain.

There , my parents born in Cuba met and later on I was born there too. 100% guanche (annexed Tenerife to Spain on April 10 ,1496). I left Cuba as many have to Madrid, Spain where I lived for 4 years. Then, move to Perth Amboy ,New Jersey USA (living there 13 yrs) ; where I completed high school, became a US Citizen, learned to drive a car, and learned English. Afterward, went to the university in Florida, ERAU, and upon graduation decided to moved there to Ormond by the Sea, near Daytona Beach, finally moving North Miami, then Hialeah, then another moved to Silver Lakes division in Miramar, Broward county, Florida; in Florida I lived a total of 18 years. Finally , moved to France in 2003 ,Versailles call me for its royalty, and working in Paris was great. It was time to seek frontiers again and moved to Brech near Auray, Morbihan in Brittany , and later move to not too far Pluvigner. Total so far in France has been 20 years, and counting. Moving average a home every 5.5 years hopefully this will be my last. Cheers All rights reserved.
