An area we shop a lot but never try the grocery store !! . The store is located rue Gay Lussac, in the ZAC Parc Lann , The concept of this brand is around customers who will find a fruit and vegetable area, grocery stores from here and elsewhere, a cheese shop, a butcher and a fish shop. A bit of the history and concept of Grand Frais :

The story of this gazings start of mass distribution began in 1992. Faced with the poverty of the fresh departments of supermarkets, Denis Dumont had the idea of opening his own stores in the Lyon region. And the story goes met several who form sort of a cooperative of thousands of suppliers, For fruits and vegetables alone, there are no less than 350 references, twice those of an average hypermarket. Freshness also plays an essential role. Whether for fish or salads, most of the products, delivered 7 days a week, are fished or picked the day before and end up on the stalls the next day, Grand Frais has its own ripening room of over 13,000 square meters in the Drôme, 50 tonnes of peaches, plums, pears, mangoes, etc. pass through temperature and hygrometry-controlled rooms to only be delivered at the right time , The outside of the stores , the facade reproduces the Halles de Baltard, with a luminous banner promoting the latest arrivals or promotions. At the entrance, there is often a Marie Blachère bakery (yes in Vannes). Inside, the plan is almost always the same. Fruits and vegetables take up 40% of the space, in the center spots of warm light on the fruits to bring out their colors and bluishness on the fish, which reinforce the freshness, The feeling of freshness is further accentuated by the misters, called nebulizers, because the droplets are ultra-fine so as not to weigh down the salads. Grand Frais was the first to install them before everyone was inspired by them , Ditto for the fish in skinpack, a second skin plastic film that protects the goods. The butchers evolve of course in flesh and blood behind their counter. Finally, in self-service, a wealth of information appears on the label: seasonality, origin, cooking time, even recipe cards. Far from limiting the staff to a minimum, Grand Frais stands out for the number of salespeople present on the floor: three times more than in the fresh food departments of the others (indeed great service).

In barely thirty years, the founder of Grand Frais ,Denis Dumont and the brothers Léo and Patrick Bahadourian, in charge of the grocery departments, have accumulated a colossal fortune. Yes all base in Switzerland to pay down taxes and wealth estimated at over 203M euros, Worth it they deserve it great job !

The Church of Saint Pierre aux Liens of Arzano !

I came back to tell you again about this church as was on my new road warrior adventure into my neighbor Finistére in my lovely Bretagne of my belle France! And on the road, passed again by Arzano, and would like to tell you again on the nice Church of Saint-Pierre-aux-LiensThe town of Arzano is 9 km from Quimperlé, 18 km from Lorient, 50 km from Quimper and 58 km from Vannes. It is 48 km from my house ! Hope you enjoy it as I.

The Church Saint Peter of the Links was built in 1641 in the form of a Latin cross, without a side. It replaces another very ancient of the 11-12C and is the subject of important restorations and transformations in 1744 as evidenced by an inscription on the east gable, above the bull-eye that illuminates the high Altar. The bell tower was erected in 1778. It is an octagonal tower, capped in 1896 with a trunnion dome with a gallery in the east and west. On the façade there is a niche that housed a wooden statue of St. Peter. The bell tower has a small bell from 1704 and a larger one, installed in 1883 after construction of the interior structure still visible today.  The placates hosts a granite stele of the iron age (-800 to-700 BC) as well as a Pietà installed on the base, dated from 1761, of a single granite cross.  The church now houses several wooden statues from the 15C  to the 18C, and a high Altar from the end of the 17C.

The choir encloses a 15C or 16C enfeu; The Church Saint Pierre aux Liens was rebuilt in 1641 then enlarged in 1744 (date on the apse) and 1776 (date on the tower). The pillared portal was put in place in 1844 (date given). The chapel of the baptismal font does not appear on the cadastre of 1811 and was probably added around 1850. The crowning of the western tower dates from 1869.

The high altar is surmounted by a 17C altarpiece. The paneling of the choir dates from 1750. The altar in the north transept is dedicated to the Holy Trinity. The altar in the south transept is dedicated to the Holy Rosary. Near the baptismal font is an altar dedicated to Saint John the Baptist. There are several ancient statues there such as the Holy Trinity, Our Lady of the Rosary, Sainte Anne, Saint John the Baptist, and Saint Sebastian. We see a stained glass window, representing the Holy Family. Two other modern stained glass windows representing Saint Peter and Saint Paul. The other stained glass windows which decorate the church represent the Holy Rosary (south transept), the Sacré-Coeur (north transept) , Saint Yves (nave, south side), and Saint Corentin (nave, north side),

The Calvary of the church dates from 1761. The cross rests on a base forming an altar on which is a group of Pièta.

A bit of side history I like tell us that Jean de Vendôme sold by deed of February 2, 1382, to Charles de Rohan, lord of Guémené, the castle, the land and the châtellenie of Roche-Moysan with the mills, wood and everything that depended on it. The lordshipy remained in the hands of the Rohan family, a branch of Rohan-Guémené until the French revolution.

The Parish Church of Saint Ouen was placed under the patronage of Saint Ouen, an archbishop of Rouen, The Church of Saint Ouen was built at the end of the 14C, it has a plan in the shape of a Latin cross, with two aisles. Its limestone and marble choir develops in three parts: a central panel and two concave wings.

In 1876, the church was renewed, redoing the walls of the outline and the roof, without touching the main nave. All that remains is to replace its bell tower and its slate spire with a tower and a stone pyramid.

The altars of the church are dedicated to the Rosary, to St Isidore, to St Joseph and to the Sacred Heart. A large part of the building, in particular the nave and its framework, dates from the 16C. In the large niches you can see the statues of Sainte Barbara and Saint Eloi which seem contemporary, while in the upper niche the statue of Saint Ouen is older.
