Ane here I am again finding goodies from my vault that have not written enough or nothing at all. This is a wonderful city to visit, Josselin , very famous for its castle but inside it there is a wonderful dolls museum I like to tell you a bit more about it. Hope you enjoy it as I.

We remember Josselin, a nice town not far from us about 60 km that we enjoy it’s medieval look city center. So here I am creating a new post from older pictures on the museum as have plenty on the castle of Josselin. Of course, this is in my beautiful department 56, Morbihan of my lovely Bretagne.  Josselin has a nice castle,  doll  museum , nice basilica and wonderful lovely inner street with wooden houses of old. A perfect getaway for a day any time.

The old stables have been upgraded to accommodate the Musée des Poupées or dolls museum of historical dolls collected by the Duchees of Rohan and very interesting especially for children. This is in the castle but entrance by 3 rue de Trente.

The story goes that more than 30 years ago, Antoinette de Rohan discovered in the attic of the Castle, a collection of dolls started at the end of the 19C by Herminie de Rohan, the great-grandmother of her husband, Josselin de Rohan. In 1984, Antoinette de Rohan inaugurated the Museum with hundreds of dolls, the oldest dating from the 17C. The Rohan collection currently has a total of nearly 5,000 pieces, in particular a large collection of dolls in Breton costume, an exceptional set of dolls from Japan, as well as many toys, board games, dollhouses, dinettes, animals, trains , planes of yesterday and today. This collection is considered the most important private collection of dolls and toys in France.

They have different events in the year but while we were there and took a peek  they had on the first floor, exhibition: “From Noah’s Ark to Paddington Bear, animals through toys”. This unique presentation of games and animals, accompanied by dolls also evoking many regions of the world, is offered on the first floor (2nd US) of the museum. On the ground floor (1st US), and we admire the exhibition which marks the 30th anniversary of the Museum, in which the rarest pieces from this exceptional collection were presented.

For reference, Antoinette and Josselin de Rohan are the current lords of the castle , Mr Josseling de Rohan is the eldest of the house of Rohan-Chabot.

There is so much to see and do in my beautiful Morbihan of my lovely Bretagne and in my belle France. I have come to Carnac several times as it lies just south of me just 27 km or about 17 miles. Passing we saw a nice building at first on the beach, and realise it was the Yacht Club of Carnac! We took a further look and always a visit once on the beach of Carnac. I  had mentioned briefly in my blog, but feel deserves a post of its own. Therefore, here is my take on the Yacht Club of Carnac!!

The Yacht Club welcomes you all year round to experience all kinds of sea sports intensely.  And a must stop on Carnac plage or beach area and we love to walked by it and great picture taking is the Yacht Club de Carnac. A wonderful set up in a great beach spot on the bd de l’océan of Carnac. A bit of history tells us that already in the summer of 1960, on the main beach, a few families, more grouped together in the center of the beach , had beyond a dinghy Rascal especially, little guy, boy. The boats were pulled over the sand, past the tents or access passages. In the spring of 1961 it was rumored that a group of users “in all kinds of gear” was going to be formed on the eastern part of the Grande Plage or large beach under the name “Club n ° 1” at the initiative of Mr. Chupot. The rest is history as the saying goes. The Carnac Yacht Club invites you to come and sail on the magnificent lake of the Baie de Quiberon. Protected from the winds and the ocean swell, a wide choice of activities awaits you such as sailing course, rental, private lessons, discovery outing, activity for children, coastal license training, kayaking, paddle and rowing, year-round activity.

Alone, with family or friends, a team of professionals will respond to your request. They offer sailing courses, rentals, private lessons and supervised outings. By catamaran, dinghy, windsurfing, kayak, paddle, rowing, traditional sailboat, sportboat or foil, come and sail on recent, suitable and quality equipment. You can also come and take your boat license , Sailing courses, for children and adults, are organized during school holidays (Easter, summer, All Saints), from Monday to Friday on half days. They guarantee you quality supervision and supports adapted to all levels. The club was labeled “Best Sailing School” for the second time in 2018.

The sailing school opened on June 20, 1966 and the inauguration took place on July 23. The main building of the club house measures 20 m x 14 m on two levels: on the ground floor, workshops, equipment depots, easement rooms; upstairs, surrounded by windows overlooking the sea to the south and the beach to the east, reception hall, bar, toilets, club secretariat and secretary’s apartment. A wing on one level extends the building to the north. It houses cabins with three berths each, accommodating 32 students and 10 monitors.
