Disney Village and Rainforest Cafe!!!

Ok so we finally made it to the parks!! Disneyland Paris we are back!!! This is our third time but the first two were relatively close as my boys were a lot younger and we came with Mom! Years gone by and the now young men decided to be back taken advantage of my oldest vacation period. See previous post on the Disney hotel and arrival we did. This one is on a bit of Disney Village and Rainforest Cafe restaurant.

This is the family favorite restaurant there since trying it out at Walt Disney Orlando property, and again here in Disneyland Paris a few years back. Of course, coming back we needed to be here for memories sake and rememberance of Mom. The Rainforest Cafe has lots of good memories for us and it continues….

The Disney Village is my best area for the entertainment and restaurants over the years been older of course the younger ones will go into Disney and the Studios. Here at Disney Village you have stores, restos, amusement events  day and night and the Panoramagic ballon ride! No need to write the whole story , this place is very popular.

This is the Disneyland Paris webpage on the Disney Village info fo reference:

As we arrive late due to the first day family needs (see post) we came here first to unwind and have dinner at the Rainforest Cafe. Luckily, the park was just getting open (june 17) and we were on July 1st still relatively empty and no reservations were needed!

This is a nice decorated restaurant imitating the Amazon basin in Brazil and it is loaded with decoration and animal sounds as well as jungle noice and lighting effects, really nice. The service was fast and friendly even with my Dad on wheelchair. Waiting time was minimal and the food as always delicious.

We had burgers, chicken, steaks, and fish and chips for yours truly , again ::) all wash down with a Western Cellars Californai Zinfadel Rosé 2018 nice and all with memories of old. We then proceeded to share the Volcano ice cream and brownies dessert , awesome;and the sharing was nice too.

In all ,it was a grand entrance to a terrific time with my boys, Dad and dog Rex! Of course, with memories always of Mom and my Frenchie who were with us always in spirit. We had a good family visit and the boys are now thinking of coming back again with another hotel I will have mickey for a long time!!

We came back leisuraly avoiding the Paris traffic which is growing due to elimination of cars on many roads, the rest are loaded! Going was easier as we took the road to the funeral (see post) first and came back from the Reims side. we shall return ;hope you enjoy the post as we! See next posts on the parks!!!

And remember, happy travels, good health, and many cheers to all!!!

A sad/wonderful trip to Disneyland Paris!

I have the opportunity to come to our memorable dear region of Seine et Marne dept 77 of the Ïle de France region in my belle France. The boys wanted to be back to Disneyland Paris and need to go along with their decision; it was our third time there. We book the forfait Disney parks and hotel, and came with my Dad and our dog Rex.

However, just 2 or 3 days before, we got news the husband of my dear late wife Martine youngest sister had passed away from a cerebral cancer at age 48! So we took the road warrior routine to be at both places at the same time. We took off from home at 3h30 (3:30 am) using toll roads to get there quicker on the A11 A10 to A4 direction Meaux and then Saint Soupplets just north of it. We got to the funeral home on time going around Meaux on the N330.

We had the opportunity to say our farewell and condolences to the family and attend the religious ceremony in the Church St Pierre et St Paul of Chambry (see post) where the sister lives nearby to her father, my father in law. The church is from the 15C damaged during WWII in 1940 and restored after the war. Once this duty was over we headed for Meaux.

We passed by the wonderful Cathédrale St Etienne (see post), and the train station very memorable for me. From here we went to our hotel but will put the action we did on the way back to the fromagerie Saint Faron. The cheesemaker is near the wonderful WWI museum or musée de la grande guerre (see post).

I have written before on all these monuments and the Brie cheese (see posts) just to tell you we did purchase again the real Brie cheese; the king of cheeses and the cheese of kings Vienna Congress of 1815. The unfortunate thing is that the process was not patents so now is done everywhere. However the original is done here with cow’s milk from the Brie region and the Meaux is the best ,simply. We, also got the mustard of Meaux of kingly fame and the local beer of Meaux.

Before we left the town of Meaux we had lunch in the place Henri IV on the Brasserie Le Vintage. The resto is a new place but the area is very sentimental to me walking it for many times since 1990, initially with my Frenchie. We had different dishes from chicken to steaks to me fish and chips with the local beer de Meaux and my crème brulée all for 22 euros per person; good!  We were told they will installed a permanent terrace with umbrellas late on. We finally hit our hotel the Village Nature Paris by Center Parcs and part of Pierre & Vacances group. Brief, the apartment was impeccable nice just beautiful surrounded by trees and shrubs like in nature. However, the parking was 200 meters away which is a problem especially as we had elderly Dad the manoeuvre of deposit and go get the car was tiring. Also the extras are with extra payment and need to go walk to them like the bowling and walking far from the apartment is not convenient to us. The service for the beers is slow as you need to pay for them and then they bring it to you,too long! Othewise, nice experience for the family including our dog Rex! Hotel webpage:

There you go folks, a nice trip shame we had to do our family duties first, it is sad to go and even more when so young and father of 2 boys. Life is short , enjoy it fully when you can I know the experiences. The hotel ok, the visit to Meaux is always uplifting bringing back many memorable moments in my life; always remember the town and especially my dear late wife Martine, a native sweet girl.

Be ready for the whole story on Disneyland Paris next. And remember , happy travels, good health, and many cheers to all!!!

Never enough of Vannes!!!

Indeed, my capital city of Vannes in my beautiful Morbihan and my lovely Bretagne. This was nice to have near and had worked within it for almost 9 years in the area. We go there every week, sometimes we think we have been there more than in our town!! Let me update this post and refresh the text/links as indeed never enough of Vannes!!!

As I was originally writing this post I was getting ready to go on one of my long trips to Asia and the temp here was only 1C  in the morning and afternoon went up to 6C, cold and will continue like this next week. I did on the trp and it was hot over there in the 30’s lol!!   The trip was mostly of errands but most were in the capital city of Vannes ,also, not far from city center in the countryside in a castle ruins of 1504 was my last employer now retired!

The day started as usual with a regular trip to EasyCash so my boys can sell some of their old stuff from books, dvd, cd, video games etc, the cash collected there they turn it into new games at Micromania all in Vannes. We continue into our wonderful Saturday morning market in old town Vannes mainly done around the place du poids public and place des Lices. We loaded on cheeses of different types, and fruits fresh and dry as well including some mangos from Brazil! And believe for the first time took a picture of what happened after the market close!!

As we had time and parked on the streets of a side road near Le Port harbor marina we did our usual walk around the old town  ,always lovely to do. While walking we got hungry so we decided to re visit an old favorite. It used to be called Cat Way when came into the area and later change to Le Gambetta. Well nice folks, but the service was slow beyond regular French time, and the food well the pizzas were not well cook on the edges. I did better ordering fish soup and a nems greens salad. All wash down with Heineken and Affligem beers, finishing with the popular cafe gourmand (coffee and small varied cakes); all came out to 25.50€ per person. They have a nice Facebook page:

The port area is always very nice and lively with good ambiance here so we took additional walks around Le  Port harbor marina.  We did some additional walks and decided to get some good chow at La Trinitaine store in Place des Lices, grabbing traditional Breton fish soup, and tuna terrines for a late night munch.  This is our favorite Breton tradition goodies store here.

Once done , we headed home to do our groceries just past the expressway N165 into our favorite hypermarket of E Leclerc. This is huge and practically you can buy all here, althought we preferred to only get the grocery basics and leave the food for especialized stores that offers the best of France and the world. Of course, coming home to our town, we could not past by without the omnipresent baguette bread in our favorite bakery Boulangerie Delumeau (now closed under new owners Y et E and still shop there )at rue de la Gare to get our Breizh breads, done with traditional Breton flours and a two point ends!

And, then we can say we were loaded for the weekend. And that is all for now , will continue update on the beauties of my Morbihan , Bretagne area in the comig days, weeks, months, years!!! This is heavens! Enjoy the post as I and do visit its worth it

And,  remember, happy travels, good health, and many cheers to all!!!
