The lighthouse of (faro) Chipiona is considered the highest in Spain, with 69 meters of height from the base. It takes 344 steps (according to the data of the Provincial Council, although other sources count 322) to see the landscape from above. It is also one of the highest in the world operating today. Since its inauguration it has never ceased to function, except in 1898 during the Cuban-Spanish-American War and the Spanish Civil War, when it was off for three years. The mission was to indicate the entrance of the Guadalquivir River. More info here: Tourist office of Chipiona on the lighthouse

In the eastern Pyrenees, within the region of La Garrocha in the province of Girona, is the best example of the volcanic landscape of the Peninsula, a Natural Park with 40 cones and 10 craters. One of the most visited and undoubtedly most amazing points of the Natural Park is the volcano of Santa Margarita, in the municipality of Santa Pau (Olot). Today, it is covered with holm oaks and has a height of 682 meters. In the inside of its crater, about 2 km and covered with grass and shrubs, a Romanesque hermitage invites meditation. The small church, which gives its name to the volcano, was destroyed during the earthquake of Catalunya in 1428 while the current building dates from 1865. Inside the temple, of a single nave and ashlars, is venerated the image of Santa Margarita de la Cot, replica of the original of the 6C and which is located in the Diocesan Museum of Girona. A curiosity regarding most Natural Parks is that 98 percent of this territory is privately owned. More on the park here in English: Natural park of La Garrocha or Garrotxa

Just in more in later post but Bordeaux is in revolution! The appellations of origin Bordeaux and Bordeaux Supérieur have unanimously approved the legalization of the plantations of seven new white and red grapes supposedly adapted to this change, and among them is the Albariño (Galicia). Apart from the Albariño, the new approved grapes are the white Petit Manseng and Liliorila and the reds Arinarnoa, National Touriga, Marselan and Castets. The plantation will be very controlled: up to 5% of the area of vineyards owned by a winegrower, and up to 10% of the final assembly of the wines of those two generic Bordeaux names. Planting rights will be granted for 10 years. !!!

Enjoy  Spain, everything under the Sun! And remember, happy travels, good health, and many cheers to all!!!
