Mexico DF and al. Another adventure in mariachi land.

I came back from another wonderful trip to Mexico DF and into Sonora state with colleagues from work. It will be my first trip to Sonora ever, and upteens to DF. I was there from October 1 to the 5 arriving back home on the 6. My travel will be driving from home to Nantes airport, to catch an Air France flight to Roissy CDG the Paris airport, nantes is at http://www.nantes.aeroport.fr/ANA/Page/ , then from Roissy CDG will have my Air France flight direct to Mexico Benito Juarez inter airport. I stayed at my old hangout of many years in Zona Rosa, the Best Western Royal, Amberes 78; a great place to stay with wonderful restaurants including the gourmet Tezka basque cuisine, and a plethora of choices outside all around you from stores, bars, restos, clubs etc. Very central between paseo de la reforma and ave chapultepec, right in the in spot. The hotel webpage http://www.hotelroyalzr.com/royal/hotel-royal-zona-rosaEN.htm  ;and the wonderful Tezka restaurant webpage http://www.tezka.com.mx/tezka/tezka.htm right communicating with the hotel.

You are walking distance to the Bosque de Chapultepec, and its wonderful museums. The official site of the magical forest is in Spanish, you go to and click on Bosque de Chapultepec, I have it in the servicios or practical information page , http://www.chapultepec.org.mx/web2010/chapultepec/servicios.php  ,then it goes by seccion or section, each one displays the things to see at each section of the forest park. just magical a must in DF

I try to walk and drive to areas of nostalgic presence for me as once I was in charge of the accounting for a computer distributor there, and was there every month for several years. Many friends kept that I try to meet every time I am in town. Another of my hangout hotels that did not stay this time in DF but used to is the hotel Segovia Regency in ave chapultepec, http://segovia-regency-mexico.hotel-rn.com/

Driving around Mexico city was glorious again, its heavey traffic lends to expert driving manouvers and expert drivers that I was lucky to have. The street level and the bustle and hussle of a city is wonderful to my soul. the restaurants we ate were Los Panchos in Condesa, Tolstoi 9, Col. Anzures, open Mondays to Sundays from  9h to 22h authentic Mexican food, I try all different dishes from tacos de carnitas, chicharrones, stuffed peppers , etc etc so much food down with agua de jamaica and agua de leche delicious.  A website to know more about it, http://www.chilango.com/restaurantes/anahuac/los-panchos

I had the chance to taste again one of my favorites chains there ,the Sanborns, and had a wonderful time eating at the Peña Pobre mall, by Av. Insurgentes sur y Av. San Fernando, its a shopping center with many stores and restaurants; http://www.sanbornscafe.com.mx/directorio.html this has a cafe and store with clothing, electronics, music gifts etc. the site for the whole in this commercial center is at http://comercial.reforma.com/libre/comercial/centroscomerciales/ccInfo.asp?c=1&k=29

Another culinary delight was at Puerto Lapice, here it was the filete tampiqueño real beef that was the plate with Mexican wine chateau Domecq. Located at Poniente 128 647 ,Azcapotzalco, corner of Norte 45 , hours Monday to Saturday from 13h to 18h. tel 55)55676809, website for more info, http://www.chilango.com/restaurantes/vallejo/puerto-lapice

I ate again on my culinary search at Konditori, at Genova, in the zona rosa, the food was ok and great prices, with even greater company. I had filete tampeño and the food was well done. I finally grab my Negra Modelo beer here lol!!! Part of several restos in the city, webpage http://www.konditori.com.mx/konditori/ubicacion_zonarosa.html

I went by my favorite store but no time to stop by this time, Liverpool a department store, similar to the best in the world, webpage http://www.liverpool.com.mx/shopping/store/ , and passing saw the Universidad La Salle (where my mom studied in Cuba of yesteryears), webpage for the memories at http://www.ulsa.edu.mx/  and the orden of the Carmelitas Descalzos church ,main webpage of order here http://www.ocd.org.mx/index.html , the chapel or Capilla de Divina Providencia inside the Peña Pobre mall now, and still serving. The various street sights, and the intricate bridge road construction to avoid earthquakes along San Jeronimo; the gallery of famous names of Mexico inside the Benito Juarez airport by the boleria area in T2, the tower of the independance to celebrate 200 years of Mexican independance done in 2010. the views from Torre Mayor, private club that I had the priviledge to visit with company personnel. All wonderful.

I had the opportunity to visit a new area in Mexico, this was Ciudad Obregon in the State of Sonora. The place is very much under security due to the unfortunate drug cartels there, but the local life continues without even noticing it. The airport is small but clean and nice. http://www.visiteobregon.com/Transporte-y-Viaje/Viajar-a-Obregon/Aeropuerto-Internacional-de-Ciudad-Obregon.html The tourist office is above, and I flew in from DF on InterJet airline at http://www.interjet.com.mx/home.aspx?Culture=es-MX&Currency=MXN with good service and came back on AeroMexico, http://www.aeromexico.com/us/welcome.html again good flight.

I stayed at the nice Holiday Inn, with a nice room, and pool facilities, center of city at Manuel Aleman street, webpage http://www.holidayinn.com/hotels/gb/en/cd.-obregon/obrso/hoteldetail , we visit a wine shop next door that was just a new concept in the area to let you stored your own bottles. We ate at Los Arbolitos de Cajeme resto, at the casa Matriz(main )  address on the webpage http://www.mariscoslosarbolitos.com/arbolitos/index.html i had my mero fish with butter here. And then I went to work in the farms or granjas around the area.

All in all it was a wonderful experience, and always the hope of a return visit. I like to thanks all those that know that will be reading and help my stay there again such a pleasant experience. Some photos and until next travel story in this travel man. Cheers.
